free and cheap stuff

I’ve been looking for a deal for a reasonably-priced laptop or netbook for quite some time as a backup for work. The main problems I’d found are: laptops on sale are generally too heavy and run on Vista (blech), or netbooks look way cool but have been basically good for nothing other than playing online.
