the website techsupportguy.org is pretty amazing — they have VOLUNTEERS(!) who will help fix your computer of the most pesky problems. We recently had a rootkit and a browser search redirect problem that wouldn’t go away no matter which removal tool we tried. (Browser/search redirect is: u do a search on google, click the result u hope to see, but instead get directed to a page u didn’t want.)

At any rate, if u have a problem that u can’t get rid of on your computer, go to forums.techsupportguy.org and sign up. They are AMAZING and we can’t say enough good things about them.

ASUS EEE netbook – I love it!

I’ve been using my Asus EEE netbook for a couple months now and i think the Asus EEE netbook is great!

The battery life is phenomenal when you’re actually using it. If you leave it on/in “sleep” mode with the lid closed for a few days, this does suck the battery down, but it’s still got a lot more life than my laptop battery had even when it was new.

My only beefs with the Asus EEE are the very loud clicks on the left/right trackpad buttons — you have to push them really hard to make them work, and they are loud as if you want the entire place to know you’re playing around on a netbook. Other than that, it’s pretty great. Will post more later.

Free mocha at McDonald’s, today only

McDonald’s restaurants in the US are giving away a 7-oz sample size of iced or hot mocha today only. (It might be other mondays too, but why not…go today?) You don’t have to purchase anything to get it either. Nice deal! I went and got a free iced mocha and while 7 ozs is pretty small, the mocha was still a nice treat.

These are pretty decent and rank on par with a coffee shop mocha. I could do without the fake whipped cream on top though — the whipped cream was just as tall as the cup the mocha came in.

best netbook for the money – ASUS EEE PC 1000HE

I’ve been looking for a deal for a reasonably-priced laptop or netbook for quite some time as a backup for work. The main problems I’d found are: laptops on sale are generally too heavy and run on Vista (blech), or netbooks look way cool but have been basically good for nothing other than playing online. I need something that can handle dozens of open documents at a time and be quick about it.After a bunch of research, I came across the latest in the ASUS EEE series. I had read about the EEE when it first came out and thought it was cool, but it seemed more like a toy than something usable for work.

I just read about the 1000HE and it has as much memory, harddrive space and speed as my existing laptop, AND still comes preloaded with XP. WOOHOO! (I’m sorry, but Vista takes double the mem to be half as fast.. not cool in my book.)
Anyway, I shopped around and eventually ordered the 1000HE from Amazon because I know I can send it back if I don’t like it, and I know they will stand behind anything they sell. The price is great too… only 389. I can’t even find a decent regular laptop for that price, and this thing gets GREAT reviews. I will write about it again once I play with it a bit.

totally addictive online game — dolphin olympics

i can’t quit playing this one.. at first it was sort of fun, but then once i got the hang of it, it got better and better. Keep playing once your dolphin jumps higher than the fireworks level and there are some great surprises.

The way the came changes from day to night is tres cool as well.
